We are in the News! Mid Devon Advertiser w/b 13.05.26
LONG-term club member Rose Howard bowled the first wood of the Newton Abbot BC season on Saturday, April 11.
The opening was well supported with around 50 plus members attending, the weather held up and there was a buffet for all to enjoy.
A lot of hard work went on during the winter months to get the club ready for the summer and so many thanks to all who lent a hand.
On Saturday 25, the club will hold an open day from 10am to 2pm, giving the opportunity for newcomers to try their hand at bowls. Club members will be in attendance to help out.
All that is required is that flat shoes are worn for playing on the green- the club is situated in Courtney Park.
The club’s first friendly at Home will take place on Tuesday, April 21, when they welcome Chagford Bowling Club. Hopefully club members will give captain Kate Kennedy plenty of support for all friendlies/tourist matches during the course of the season.
There is of course an internal friendly before that where the men’s A-Team will play the C-Team on Monday, April 20.

The official opening of our lovely ladies loos has taken place! Massive thanks to everyone who has played a part in the upgrade! Just a bit of painting and final finishes to do. 06.03.26

Opening of the Green, Saturday 12th April 2025
The first bowl of the afternoon was delivered by member and former Captain Brian Waitman. Vice president Rose Howard and Captain Kate Kennedy welcomed everyone to the club before all members rolled one bowl in the Spider competition.
A game of bowls was played before we all tucked in to a delicious buffet provided by the members.
We were very fortunate with the weather which had threatened rain. It was a great afternoon, the green looked good, the banter was flowing and the green looked and played really well.

Our very own Ken Howard who today received an Order of Merit from Bowls Devon in recognition of all his dedicated service to the game of bowls here at Newton Abbot. His service has included Captaincy, Green Keeper and now Green Manager. All of these roles he has completed with humility and good humour. Thanks Ken from all of us at Newton Abbot Bowling Club, a well deserved award.

Some of our lovely ladies celebrating being runners up in Division 1 of the South Devon League, 2024. Congratulations!

Our men's A team (with a little help from some B team gents) who won the MDL Premier league this year (2024) - the first time since 1985! A great achievement, well done!
