Both ladies were invited back on Monday 6th June for a practice match. Watch this space to see if they are picked for the first match against Warwickshire on 18th June at Olverston BC.
UPDATE - both Julia and Isobel are included in the John's Squad for the season and will play in the first match against Warwickshire. Well done to them both!

Congrats also to Isobel who has won the section 5A 4-wood singles competition. She will play against other sections on Saturday July 2nd at Madeira. Good luck to both ladies.
Open day April 22.jpg

Saturday 16th April was our first Open Day for this season - a chance for anyone to come along and try out our great sport.

A good number of our current members shared their knowledge of how to play the game, welcomed interested people and made sure they had the correct size wood to try out.

Around 30 people turned up to try out the sport on the day and, so far, 19 people have taken advantage of a reduced fee for the season and joined up as members. A great result for our club.

We are holding a second Open Day on Sunday 29th May between 10am - 2pm. Can't wait for that? Get in touch and we will arrange for you to come to the club at a convenient time. Don't miss out on your chance to try out this great game.

More news from the club - a triples team made up of Shaun Lynch, Trevor Voisey and Phil Underhill entered the Teignmouth tournament and have won through to the semi-finals. Good luck fellas!

UPDATE They won their semi-final and narrowly lost to Bath 18 -16 in the final. Great achievement to get to the final, well done.

Shaun went on to play in the Phoenix singles as part of the Teignmouth tournament. This is an extra competition for those players who entered the singles competition but didn't progress past the 1st round. Shaun had lost by 3 shots in his earlier round so was eligible to compete in the Phoenix. He was successful in winning this competition! Well done for a very successful tournament.

Sunday 12th September

Newton Abbot was well represented at the semi-final and final of the Johns trophy at the Royal Leamington Spa bowling club today. Isobel Burley and Julia Barnes were fortunate to play in the team whilst Catherine Pickett was picked as travelling reserve. Devon were victorious overall, beating a team from Lincs in the semi and Surrey in the final. Congratulations to all 3 ladies!! Here are some pics.

Saturday and Sunday 11th and 12th September, 2021

This weekend some of our club finals were played. Here are some photos from the day. Results to follow.

We have been fortunate to secure some extra funding some of which has been spent on some very smart blinds.

Tuesday 7th September

Tonight saw the final of the Club Triples between Paul Osborne, Isobel Burley and Trevor Voisey against Mandy Holtby, Steve Tipping and Phil Underhill. It was a match of two halves with Trevor's team pulling away to start with. The second half saw Phil's team come back very strong to draw equal and then go ahead. The final few ends were closely fought resulting in a final score of 22 - 21 to Trevor's team.

Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th
Isobel and Catherine had to play each other in both the 2-wood singles and 4-wood singles. On both occasions Isobel won but congratulations to both ladies for reaching this year's finals.
